This is going to be a Sugarpill week! I now have all of the Sugarpill palettes (and by extension, all of the pressed shadows save for Bulletproof) so I’ve been busy swatching for you. Today, I have the Sugarpill Heartbreaker palette.
I’m very excited as Sugarpill is a company I’ve been admiring from afar for many years, but for one reason or another, I just never bit the bullet when it came to buying something. I had high hopes for their shadows based on all the rave reviews online, and I was definitely not disappointed.
The Heartbreaker palette is part of their Addicted to Pretty collection, and includes four shades (descriptions are from the Sugarpill website):
Mochi – Matte mint seafoam with a slightly pearl sheen
2am – Matte purple with a slightly pearl sheen
Velocity – Vibrant matte royal blue
Acidberry – Vibrant matte lime green with slightly pearl sheen
Single pressed shadows retail for $12 normally, whereas the palette is $34, so you’re saving a LOT ($14, to be exact) by getting the palettes. This is an amazing deal in my opinion, especially because the palettes contain full-sized shadows. Moreover, the sizes are enormous — 4 grams or 0.14oz each. By comparison, most pressed shadow singles contain 0.05 oz (Urban Decay and MAC, for example).
I especially love their themed packaging. It’s a mix of Harajuku style, candy raver and cyber-punk which I think works so well for the indie brand brand.
Sugarpill are especially well-known for the bright, bold pigmentation of their shadows. Just look at the swatches! Those are all done dry, over bare skin, no primer, no nothing!
My favorite from this palette is Acidberry. I see lime greens not-that-often and when I do, they tend to apply more as a chartreuse or not as vibrant as in the pan. This is true to pan color (as are all of the shades), and SO super bright in person it almost glows.
As I mentioned in my Parian Spirit review, I got this palette from Beautylish, which now carries Sugarpill. As an added bonus, they also threw in the limited edition @#$%! shadow which is not even available for purchase on the Sugarpill website itself. I will swatch and review that in a later post.
Overall, I think all the rave about Sugarpill is well-deserved. The shadows are very reasonably priced, and the palettes especially are an excellent deal. The packaging is cute, fun but also functional — it’s well-constructed and not flimsy or cheap at all. I really cannot wait to do some looks with these!
Best of all, Sugarpill are cruelty-free and many, but not all, of their shadows are vegan. In this palette, Mochi, Acidberry and Velocity are vegan. On the site, there is an ability to sort by vegan options.
Price: $34
Where to buy: Sugarpill or Beautylish
Would I repurchase?: It’s highly doubtful I’ll ever get through these monstrous shadows but YES! I would repurchase forever and ever if I had to!
Disclosure: The product(s) featured in this post were given to me as gifts. All opinions are my own.
